Over the hurdle

Well we have passed a big hurdle on Saturday...our home study. It went very well despite Kyndal's opposition to the whole idea of being interviewed. :) Just for those who are curious, we were all interviewed. The kids without us, then Rob and me together, then Rob and me alone. Not fun but not torture either. She also looked around the house. It all took about two hours. The report should be written up this week. Once we get the psychological evaluation done, we will be ready to have everything authenticated. Please continue to pray for our goal to have the dossier completed...April 30. We will also need to reach our new fundraising goal. It is a big one but we know God will make a way. It has been amazing to experience his faithfulness through the financial side of this. Everytime we have a need God has provided through donations or opportunities to earn it. Just more reassurance that this is God's plan for our family.

In Jimmy news...we have not talked to him in a week. The Internet has been out. We do know that he and the other children are studying and preparing for their big school tests this week. Please pray for them. They must pass in order to be promoted to the next grade.

Just a reminder: our benefit show with Bob Smiley is this Thursday, March 31 at 7:00 pm. It is being held at Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, OK. Buy your tickets at www.bobsmiley.com. Hope to see you there!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  Philipians 4:6

This is the verse I have been repeating to myself throughout this process.  Before we started, I was very intimidated by all the paperwork.  I am not sure if that intimidation has gone away; but we have gotten pretty far along without too much stress.  We are having our home study on Saturday and hopefully our pysch evaluation next week.  Those are two big things to mark off the list.  After they are done, we are ready to get all the documents authenticated.  Then, we will send everything to the Haitian embassy in Chicago, translate it and off to the IBESR in Haiti.  We are praying we can get this accomplished by the end of April.  We ask that you pray with us.

We got to talk to Jimmy again this week.  It is always wonderful to see him and get to talk (as best we can).  Hunter & Jillian are so good to spend their time with us skyping.  We appreciate them so much.

If you can, we ask that you come to our benefit on Thursday, March 31.  Christian comedian, Bob Smiley, is doing a show to help us and our friends, The Hoover's, raise funds for our adoptions.  It is at 7:00 pm at Memorial Road Church of Christ.  Get tickets here, http://www.bobsmiley.com/.  It is going to be a fun night.  You don't want to miss out.  Tickets are $10 ($15 at the door) and $8 for college students.  Really hope to see you there.

I have a friend.

We are fortunate to have friends adopting from CHCH.  We are trying to stay at the same place in the process so that our boys can come home around the same time.  Jimmy and Richarde have been practicing their English together.  They help each other write messages to us that they read when we skype.  We are so thankful that they have each other to lean on while their lives are changing.  Richarde will live only an hour and a half from us; so, the boys will be able to visit one another and stay in touch.  Please pray for Richarde and his adoptive family, the Hoover's, as his adoption proceeds.

As for our progress, we are really in a waiting period.  We are waiting for our FBI report to come back.  We have our home study on the 26th, and we are having our psych evaluations soon.  We are glad our progress has gone so smoothly thus far.  Thank you for all of your prayers.  We know God's hand is on everything.

Home Study, Dossier, Fundraisers, OH MY.

We should have an appointment for our home study soon.  We are hoping to have our interview sometime in the next two weeks.  This is a huge part of our dossier.

Our dossier preparations are in full swing.  For those that do not know what that is...a dossier is, for lack of a better word, a report that we send to Haiti.  It includes everything from birth certificates to FBI clearance to reference letters.  We have quite a bit complied but still have to have everything validated, translated and sent to the Haitian embassy before we can send it on to Haiti.  Please continue to pray that every piece of paper is written correctly; notorized and certified accordingly, and that nothing slows us down.

We also have fundraising efforts in full swing.  Of course, there is the benefit concert Thursday, March 31 in Edmond, OK.  We are working on a bbq dinner as well for Saturday, April 30 here in Ada. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend if possible.  I have sold over 20 pies now.  Thank you to all who have purchased them.  Every pie puts us a little closer to our goal.  I am working on a few other things that I will update you on soon.  We really do appreciate everyone's support.  Whether it is financial or prayerful, the support makes all the difference.

Make Room for Jimmy

Kyndal has started sitting in the back seat of the car because she thinks Jimmy will want to sit up by Rylan.  She says "the two brothers will need to sit by each other".

I love that the kids are thinking of their brother and what he will want.
